Fly with Young Eagles
If your child is interested in flying, or even just trying it out, try a Young Eagles experience where anyone 8-17 years old can fly (at no cost)! This is an exceptional opportunity to see what it is like to sit in the pilot’s seat in a small aircraft and have an opportunity to fly. Participants get their own log book to start keeping track of their flights, and a certificate of flight.
This program is run through the EAA by volunteer pilots who love to share aviation with youth! Our personal experience has included meeting amazing volunteer pilots, seeing all kinds of small prop planes, and getting to fly a few different aircraft.
Find a local Young Eagles coordinator to find the closest flights to you! Some chapters hold flights on a regular basis, and some schedule flights on special days. Often times these local chapters will go beyond flights and help youth train for their private pilot license, and some even work with youth to build planes!
